Peter Moruzzi's "Greetings from Las Vegas"

There's (almost) nothing I love more than architectural history, especially, if it's mid-century modern with some VEGAS style thrown in. Yep, I'm pretty much sold. While we can only visit many of these places through vintage photos or movies, I do also love exploring the architectural gems that remain in Las Vegas. Believe it or not, there are still many to discover.

For the time being, we are all safe (or stuck) in OUR homes during these COVID quarantine days so I was pretty psyched to see this History at Home program presented by The Nevada Preservation Foundation. Starting on Friday you can join in for a weekend long virtual celebration of the rich heritage of Nevada. There are several different programs that you can register here for.

I have always been fascinated by concrete block walls and how they have been used both decoratively and functionally, especially throughout the 50s and 60s. There is one behind Circus Circus that I've been wanting to stop and get a good look at for some time now. So, when I saw the Breeze Block Virtual Tour, I said, "sign me up!" It may seem like a strange way to pass your Friday evening but I'm looking forward to it. Hope my husband feels the same way.

Saturday I'm planning to join Mid-Century celebrity author Peter Moruzzi for a fabulous preview video of his full-length slide presentation titled "Vegas Modern."   Featured are highlights of modernist Las Vegas from the 40s-70s all taken from his latest book Greetings from Las Vegas.

There are other several other programs available and the weekend ends with a movie watch party for Ferris Bueller's Day Off! Hope you can take advantage of The Nevada Preservation Foundation's History at Home and join in on one of these special presentations...See you on the Flipside!

About Me

My husband and I have been enjoying Las Vegas for years.  We stayed on the strip like most visitors and never considered leaving the resorts until I realized, HEY...there are mountains out there!
